WE’RE MAKING: KITCHARI

Kitchari is the ultimate comfort food with a purpose — a warm, healing dish rooted in Ayurvedic and Traditional Chinese Medicine principles. Known for its gentle, detoxifying properties, this one-pot meal is perfect for grounding your energy, supporting digestion, and providing complete nourishment. Whether you’re looking to reset, recover, or simply enjoy a cozy meal, kitchari offers the perfect balance of flavor and functionality. We’re featuring this recipe as a little preview from The Reset Bundle we recently collaborated on with Cookma.

INGREDIENTS

+ 1 container of Nourishing Kitchari

+ 7 cups water

+ 1 tablespoon ghee (or more for serving)

+ Sea salt to taste

+ Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)

+ Lemon, sliced (for garnish)

+ Optional toppings: avocado slices, Coastal Gomasio, extra ghee, a squeeze of lemon juice

directions

  1. In a large pot, combine 1 container of Nourishing Kitchari and 7 cups of water (or bone broth!).

  2. Bring to a boil and simmer over low heat for 40 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  3. Top with a generous amount of ghee, fresh lemon and cilantro to serve. Consider adding 4 cups of local, seasonal vegetables while cooking.

Kitchari is more than just a meal — it’s a ritual. The simplicity of its ingredients belies the deep nourishment it provides. The mung beans and rice create a complete protein, while turmeric and ginger add anti-inflammatory benefits. Topped with avocado and Coastal Gomasio, it’s not only delicious but also packed with healthy fats and minerals. Bon appetit :)
